MAC Framboise Moi Lipstick ($18.50 for 0.1 oz.) is a deep, raspberry pink with subtle, cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It wore down to a matte finish within two hours of wear (shorter if one blotted or drank something). The texture was denser, firm without being too difficult to apply smoothly across my lips. It had opaque pigmentation that adhered evenly and didn’t emphasize my lip texture. It wore well for six hours, left a reddish stain behind, and was non-drying.
$18.50/0.1 oz. – $185.00 Per Ounce
MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying. Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying. The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

MAC Hey, Kiss Me! Lipstick ($18.50 for 0.1 oz.) is a light, cotton cayd pink with cool, blue undertones and a natural sheen. It had good color coverage in one pass, though it needed a second layer for full coverage (if desired). The consistency was lightweight with slight slip but enough to feel overly wet or slippery on my lips. The color went on fairly evenly, but there was a bit of product that gathered in my deeper lip lines, and it had subtle, but visible, streaking along the edges or if I pressed my lips together, I could see lines show up. It lasted well for three hours and was neither drying nor hydrating on me.

MAC Hi-Fructease Lipstick ($18.50 for 0.1 oz.) is a brighter, medium pink-coral with warm undertones and a cream finish. The pigmentation was very nearly opaque in a single layer, while the texture was lightly creamy, thicker but not heavy to wear, and comfortable to apply and to wear. The color went on evenly with just a smidgen of product that gathered in my deeper lip lines, though it wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance. This shade stayed on well for four and a half hours and was non-drying.

Ciate Roger, Darling Glow-To Highlighter ($29.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a light, pink-peach base with a strong, golden sheen. It seemed like it was going to be rather metallic based on the initial swatch, but it ended up more moderate to noticeably luminous on my skin, especially after I diffused and blended it out. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, though it had a smooth, soft, and lightly creamy texture that made it easy to just pick up less product for a sheerer application. The denser consistency worked better with moderately dense brushes, like a typical tapered highlighting brush but less so with a fan brush. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading a bit.
$29.00/0.17 oz. – $170.59 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be an “ultra-soft luminizer” with “long-wear” and built-up to “intense, bold shimmer.” The powders were usually soft and blendable, though a couple were a little looser in the pan, which made them feel drier or dustier.
They were easy to blend and diffuse on the skin and lasted for eight hours, on average. The more sparkly shades emphasized my skin’s natural texture a bit while the more luminous shades did not.

I haven’t “moved on” in the sense that I’ve stopped purchasing products or paying attention entirely, but these are brands that I’m *personally* lukewarm about presently but would LOVE for them to turn it around and change my mind: Guerlain, Too Faced, Tom Ford (yes! many faves but less…
