What was the last brand you fell out of love with?
Guerlain! They were always a favorite but for the last few years, I’ve been less and less interested in their offerings (which have felt erratic in timing and often feel like a rehash of past offerings). They’ve discontinued a lot of products without replacing with new formulas, too.

Sydney Grace Chocolate Bar Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a deep, chocolaty brown with subtle, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that wasn’t too firmly nor too softly pressed in the pan. The color applied evenly and blended out with ease along the edges. It wore well for eight hours before fading slightly on me.

The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen. Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn’t have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading).

Sydney Grace Genie in a Bottle Shimmer Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a muted, deep gold with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. The color coverage was opaque in a single layer, while the texture was soft, lightly powdery and had some fallout during application. Thankfully, it still applied well with a smooth, even lay down of color that blended out with ease (you’ll just want to use a primer or do your eyes prior to base products!). It stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before fading a bit.

Sydney Grace Save the Dance Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a bright, coppery plum with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It appeared more plum-like in the pan and more copper-like when swatched and applied. Sydney Grace Spring Fling Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a light pink with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had good pigmentation with a denser, firmer texture that felt thinner than most shades in the range. There was a dryness present that I wouldn’t normally associate with the brand’s formula. The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen. Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn’t have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading).

Wet ‘n’ Wild Rose in Peace Color Icon Crème Blush ($4.99 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium-dark berry with cool undertones and a natural sheen. It’s supposed to have “pH-activated ingredients that adjust to each person for a unique custom color,” though they describe it as a “flushed berry color.” Initially, it has more of a blackberry appearance–a purplish black with a pinker edge–that developed to a true berry on my skin within a couple of minutes.
It had buildable pigmentation up to medium coverage (it just started to be physically too much product trying to build beyond that) with a thin, emollient texture that had an oily slip to it, but it didn’t seem to slide around on my skin or lift away base products. It applied easily patted onto my cheeks and blended out with fingertips or a stippling brush. There was a dewy sheen that was present for most of the eight hours it lasted for. There was a faint, soapy rose scent but I wasn’t able to detect it once applied.

Maybelline Red for Me Color Sensational Made for All Lipstick ($7.49 for 0.15 oz.) is a rich, medium-dark red with cool, undertones and a satin finish. It had rich color coverage that applied evenly and smoothly across my lips. The texture had a more powder-like, velvety texture that didn’t feel wet but skated across my lips comfortably; I even noticed that it went on more crisply along the edges than a typical matte red would for me. There was a smidgen of product that gathered in my deeper lip lines, though it wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance. It wore well for over six hours, left a very strong stain behind, and was slightly drying after five hours of wear.
P.S. — The lipstick wasn’t secured in the base of the tube (I think it got so cold in transit, it froze and fell out!), so when I opened it up, the bullet fell onto the floor, which is why it looks… sad.

The pigmentation was nearly opaque in a single layer, and it built up easily to full coverage with another pass. The texture was lightweight, lightly creamy with a touch of tackiness, which did a good job at keeping it in place for longer and never felt heavy or thick on my lips. The color stayed on beautifully for over six hours, left a moderate stain behind, and was lightly hydrating over time.

I’ve tried Maybelline’s Clear Glow All in One Compact Powder in the past. I literally repurchased it more than 4 times. It was my favorite. I even tried out Maybelline Super Fresh Compact which gives a sheer coverage compared to the Clear Glow one. But, when this particular compact came into the Indian market, I thought of purchasing it. Teaser Alert: I freaking love it.

SHADES:
The shades were very disappointing! It comes in 5 shades and my shade is 04 Honey. I’m on the fair-medium tone and the best shade that matched me was 04 Honey. It was the second last shade from the range. It has more options for lighter skin tones but people with darker skin can have a problem finding their own match.

I am impressed with the pigmentation. I got the shade 04 Honey and it was very pigmented. It has yellow undertones to it and it did brighten my under eyes and has medium coverage.
The powder is very smooth and softly milt, but it has a lot of kickback. I loved the consistency. Its very smooth and has good coverage. Totally can wear it all alone due to its medium coverage.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE PRODUCT:
I love how smooth and pigmented this powder is. It has very good medium coverage for a compact powder under Rs.300. This shade is perfect for me and definitely gives my face some coverage. Normally I wear just this and go out. If you are using a bb cream then you can top it off with this and get a flawless finish.
It contains SPF 32 PA+++ which is a great thing since you can only apply it on its own and go out without the additional use of any sunscreen. It controls the oil in your face to some extent, definitely has a lightweight formula and gives a flawless finish. These claims are totally true.
It can be a bit drying during the winters. So, I suggest that you exfoliate your skin well. The coverage was pretty intact for almost 5 hours. I did not re-apply it over time. If you have an oily T zone then it will get shiny after 3 hours.
But, this product is Made In China, which I am quite skeptical about. Aren’t Maybelline products made in the USA?

Colour Pop Soul Mate Pressed Powder Blush ($8.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a light-medium, pink-coral with with undertones and a semi-matte finish. There seemed to be a barely-there, fine shimmer that gave it a natural finish when applied and buffed out on my cheeks–not really shimmery but very skin-like. The texture was slightly dry, thin, and definitely looked better after it was applied than it felt or appeared swatched.
It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that blended out fairly readily, though I had to be careful to disperse it from the beginning rather than really spread it out as it had a tendency to stick a bit otherwise. For example, if I gently tapped my brush three or four times across the cheek area and then blended everything together, that was pretty easy, but if I tapped all of the product onto the apple of my cheek and then blended out, that became more challenging to diffuse and spread the product outward. It stayed on well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview
$8.00/0.21 oz. – $38.10 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to go on “smoothly” and have a “natural and healthy flush” that has “long wear” and “can be layered to your desired intensity.” It is a lightly to moderately powdery powder blush with semi-sheer to semi-opaque, buildable color payoff. The consistency has a drier, thinner feel and though it feels silky to the touch, I found it the type of powder blush can be tricky to blend out evenly on the skin, depending on one’s skin type or base preferences. The drier the skin/base, the better the formula would blend, but any natural oils or slip caused the blush to go on unevenly and was difficult to blend out. The wear was between seven and eight hours on me on average.
