Natasha Denona Alba Duo Glow Review & Swatches

Alba

Natasha Denona Alba Duo Glow ($38.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a light-medium pink-coral with warm, golden shimmer for a luminous sheen. It had good pigmentation that was nearly opaque in one layer, but it easily built up with less than half of a layer on top. The consistency was smooth and lightly creamy to the touch, but it felt firmer and denser, so it worked better with a moderate hand or moderately dense brushes over more feathery ones.

It’s supposed to have an “intense” finish, but it was more luminous without being metallic or sparkly, and I’d describe it as more light-to-moderate in its intensity. The powder applied evenly and blended out with little effort. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before fading slightly on me.

Ingredients

Bobbi Brown Punch, Cranberry, Telluride Crushed Lip Colors Reviews & Swatches

Punch

Bobbi Brown Punch Crushed Lip Color ($29.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark fuchsia pin kwith subtle, cool undertones and a natural sheen. It had buildable pigmentation that ranged from semi-sheer in one layer to semi-opaque in two layers. The lipstick had a lightweight, thin consistency that felt waxy as it glided across my lips without tugging but never felt wet or emollient while on. It applied evenly and didn’t emphasize my lip texture or lip lines. It wore well for five hours, left a faint stain behind, and was neither drying nor hydrating over time.

Formula Overview

$29.00/0.11 oz. – $263.64 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to have “high color payoff” with a “blotted-down stain effect” that “glides on comfortably” and keeps lips “hydrated.” It’s also supposed to be long-wearing and is buildable from “blotted-down” in one layer to “intense color payoff” in two to three layers. The majority of the shades in the range have medium to semi-opaque coverage in one layer, and they were buildable from there with two to three layers. A few shades applied less evenly than others, though most went on well enough.

The consistency was more like a firmer, harder balm, as it glided easily across my lips, but it didn’t feel wet, emollient, or oily, more waxy like a traditional lipstick but very lightweight. Some shades pulled into my lip lines and a few emphasized my natural lip texture, while others were more smoothing and flattering in finish/texture. The wear typically lasted between three and six hours with some of the richer/darker shades leaving subtle stains behind. The formula was more non-drying to lightly hydrating, but it wasn’t hydrating enough that I’d put it in that category (hydrating lipstick). They had a faint, lemon-meets-wax scent that sometimes wasn’t noticeable at all (depended on the shade).

All swatches are with two layers.

Cranberry

Bobbi Brown Cranberry Crushed Lip Color ($29.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a muted, medium reddish-plum with warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had opaque pigmentation after two layers, while one layer yielded medium coverage. The texture was lightweight, thin without being clingy, and felt noticeably waxy with less traditional creaminess/slip. The color went on evenly and didn’t sink into my lip lines, which helped it appear smoother overall. It lasted for just over four and a half hours on me and was non-drying over time.

Viseart Soleil Petit Pro Palette Review & Swatches

Soleil

Viseart Soleil Petit Pro Palette ($30.00 for 0.28 oz.) is new to the Petit Pro family with a mix of warmer neutrals with pops of bolder hues, like rich lavender, purple, and pinkky-reds. It felt less like a palette with a pop of color and more like one with a mix of more colorful hues and paired with neutrals to “ground” the scheme. I liked how this Petit Pro felt more versatile and varied, as there was a mix in depth, color, and finish across the eight shades. It launches March 1st exclusively at Beautylish!

Pastille

Pastille is a soft, peachy beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had a smooth, velvety texture that was denser without being too powdery, so it held its pigmentation better on bare skin and had only a little bit of fallout if I wasn’t careful. The color coverage was nearly opaque in a single layer and lasted well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview

The eyeshadow formula is supposed to be “pigment[ed]” with “smooth and even application” that is “long-lasting.” The matte shades are typically semi-opaque to opaque but buildable with soft, velvety textures that can sometimes be a little powdery or slightly firm, depending on the shade. I find that the mattes are often best suited to someone who likes control over pigmentation and may prefer to build up color; they regularly perform better in practice than just swatched on the arm as well.

The shimmer shades range from satin to metallic, and the more metallic shades tend to feel creamier to the touch, while the satin ones have a fine pearl to them that looks almost melted on the lid once blended out. Both the mattes and shimmers are blendable and easy to work with. Most of Viseart’s eyeshadows wear between seven and nine hours on me.

Taffy

Taffy is a light-medium, pinky-red with warmer undertones and cooler violet and pink shimmer. It had good color payoff, and it seemed a little faded compared to the pan–just slightly. The texture was slightly dusty in the pan, though it didn’t seem to result in fallout during application. The eyeshadow applied best with pressing and patting motions, which yielded the most even, smoothest application. It blended out nicely along the edges, and I didn’t see any fading until after eight hours of wear.

Watermelon

Watermelon is a medium, pinky-red with subtle, cool undertones and faint, violet pearl. It was more shimmery than it appeared in the pan but not as shimmery as Taffy. The consistency was soft, smooth, and blendable without being too firmly nor too softly pressed in the pan. It had opaque pigmentation that lasted well for eight and a half hours, though it seemed to stain my skin slightly.

Pastis

Pastis is a bright, medium-dark yellow with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff that adhered evenly to my lid and blended out nicely, though it seemed to sheer out a bit but was able to be built back up. The color appeared a bit darker applied to my skin than it did in the pan. The texture felt firmer in the pan, and I had to use a bit of a heavier hand to pick up product evenly, though the color wasn’t difficult to use in practice. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before it started to fade on me.

Bonbon

Bonbon is a bright, medium pinky lavender with warm undertones and cooler blue-to-violet shifting sparkle and shimmer. It had good color coverage that was buildable to full coverage with less than half of a layer or applied with a dampened brush. The consistency was soft without being dusty, blendable, and easy to work with on bare skin. It stayed on well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Lavender

Lavender is a medium-dark purple with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had buildable color payoff from semi-opaque (one layer) to opaque (two layers), and while it didn’t feel as finely-milled or as soft as other Viseart mattes have, it was one of the smoother takes I’ve encountered in this family (the more vibrant purples and reds tend to be grainier). The eyeshadow applied evenly and diffused along the edge with slight effort; again, for this type of hue, quite nice, but compared to a soft brown, a little more effort was required. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before fading a bit, and there was very faint staining.

Marmalade

Marmalade is a medium coral with strong, warm copper sparkle and shimmer over a reddish-coral base. It had rich color coverage that adhered well to bare skin with a smooth, even application that looked “melted” against my skin after a couple of minutes. The texture was soft, a little dusty in the pan but wasn’t present during the application. This shade lasted nicely for eight and a half hours before I noticed any fading.

Soleil

Soleil is a medium gold with strong, warm undertones and a slight, metallic finish. The eyeshadow felt more loosely-pressed in the pan, which made it more prone to sheering out and felt on the drier side compared to other shades in the palette. It built up to opaque coverage with two layers (or if I went in with a dampened brush), and the color applied best by patting and pressing it on or else there was some fallout. It stayed on well for eight hours before I saw signs of fading.

Melt Cosmetics Pink Moon Digital Dust Highlight Review & Swatches

Pink Moon

Melt Cosmetics Pink Moon Digital Dust Highlight ($39.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a light-medium pink with warmer, more pink-coral undertones and cooler, pink-to-violet sparkle. It had a lightly metallic finish that managed not to emphasize my skin’s natural texture. It had good color coverage but needed a second layer for opaque coverage. The consistency felt drier to the touch, and it seemed to apply less precisely as more product dispersed more readily on my skin. I’d recommend using a lighter touch or smaller brush for more precise application (if one doesn’t intend to wear it all-over the cheeks!). It sat nicely on my skin, though, and it didn’t appear dry or dusty once blended out. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading a bit.

Formula Overview

$39.00/0.28 oz. – $139.29 Per Ounce

The brand doesn’t have a great description of the highlighter formula generally, just descriptions of each shade. The lightest shade–Stargazer–is described as “buildable” but the other two are silent with respect to pigmentation, and the lightest shade was quite pigmented. Since there was no general description, I’m holding the formula to the average powder highlighter’s claims–pigmented, long-wearing, and blendable, except Stargazer, which I would expect to have “buildable” pigmentation. The formula has a denser, firmer texture, but it never felt stiff nor was it difficult to blend out on the skin. The coverage was semi-opaque and buildable with a high-shine to metallic finish. All three lasted eight hours on me.
